For Authors
Getting Your Book on Our Shelves
We love authors, especially our Buda and ALL of central Texas neighbors. As a small shop, though, every inch of shelf space counts, and our readers trust us to choose carefully. That means we can't carry every book. Please read this page before reaching out.
Curious what we already carry? Browse our Local Authors collection.
Have an agent or publicist?
Please have them email us at howdy@twodoorsdownbookshop.com.
Indie and self-published authors
Please start with our Author Stock Request form (linked below). Please don't make first contact in the store or drop off copies. We don't accept unsolicited books, and our booksellers will point you back to this page.
Our Stocking Standards
Before you apply, please make sure your book:
- Was not created with generative AI, including text and illustrations
- Is professionally edited and designed
- Has the title and author on the spine (if applicable)
- Fits a section we already carry
- Is priced in line with similar titles in its genre
- Has an ISBN and is not printed through Amazon KDP
We also ask that authors we stock let their readers know the book is available at Two Doors Down.
Our Terms
Wholesale: If your book is available through Ingram or another major distributor at a standard trade discount, we'll order it through them, just like any other title we carry.
Consignment: For local and self-published titles not available through a distributor:
- We start with 3–5 copies.
- You receive 60% of the retail price for each copy sold; the shop keeps 40%.
- Consignment periods last 90 days and may be renewed based on sales.
- We pay for copies sold at the end of each consignment period.
- Unsold copies must be picked up within 30 days after the period ends, or they become shop property.
- All consigned titles require a signed consignment agreement at drop-off.
What Happens Next
We review requests on a rolling basis and will reach out within 2–4 weeks if your book is a fit and we have room. We may ask for a review copy before we commit. We wish we could reply to everyone, but the volume of requests means we may not be able to.

- Custom: Have an idea? Tell us about it.
Event requests follow the same stocking standards and terms above. If you have a publicist, they can email us directly.
